01 Oct 2016 : Backdrop : Ethyl & Flori (Secretsundaze/E&F)

Backdrop : Ethyl & Flori (Secretsundaze/E&F)

On Saturday 1st October Backdrop and it’s Passionate People...Passionate Ravers return to World Headquarters.

Uniting you musically curious souls with the deeper and wilder sounds around are Ethyl & Flori (Secretsundaze, E&F). Much like your and our heroine Jane Fitz in January, who recently invited Ethyl to join her for Dance Tunnel’s final series of parties, their Newcastle debut is long overdue. We are proud to have them share their record bags and melt your minds. We are also inspired by, and thankful for, your continued trust in us to bring artists’s on the rise through the underground, always with true pedigree, but not always overexposed/hyped everywhere else. Opening the surgery will be Dr. Joseph : Backdrop & Simon : Backdrop.

£6/£8/£10 tickets and £25 season passes available now via www.backdroplive.com and our kind sellers. Join us on Friday 21st October for Kobosil (Ostgut Ton/MDR), Saturday November 19th for Helena Hauff (Ninja Tunes/Werkdiscs) and Saturday December 3rd for a residents and friends party.

Their Fabric x Fear of Flying mix is one of the most powerful, surging hour’s of dance music we have heard. With a focus on continual and incrementally increasing energy, their dynamic control over a throbbing floor has been honed internationally.(Lock in here https://goo.gl/ycWDp8 ). Their regular KMAH show is also always a firm favourite for the Backdrop family (and great for tips!).

In an era where a lot of young people want to be DJs, and seemingly most need to have productions to their name in order to do so, it can encourage either substandard club tracks being released or great producers getting booked for main DJ slots and under-performing. These two London based friends manage both skills with great success, having released on exceptional labels including Secretsundaze, Freerange and Quintessential.

Their own tracks can be heard in this mix for the esteemed Little White Earbuds movement, which is made up of entirely Ethyl and Flori productions. We advise you buy their records on vinyl too. We give you fair warning, however excellent such cuts may be, Ethyl himself admitted to us they like to get a lot more muscular when guiding your club trip..."Producing and DJing are separate disciplines in my mind. You're naturally not going to feel the same things in the studio as you do in a darkened room surrounded by dancers and alcohol so I think our productions come from a different place to our DJ sets.”

See you all very soon, hopefully at Backdrop In Ernest (Free Party) the week before, Friday 23rd September.

Authentic Underground Revelry en route.
